Grace and Graham Lighting

Biography

Will KohlerWill Kohler’s passion for metal sculpture and design, and his commitment for authentic 16th century blacksmithing took him to Germany.  There, he trained with Alfred Schmidt, a reknowned icon master metalsmith.  Following his apprenticeship, Will returned to Boulder, Colorado and founded W X Kohler Design, in 1993.

Will combined his knowledge of European hand-forged ironwork with his creativity and expertise in contemporary materials. He created exquisite railings, gates, grills and metalwork for hundreds of Colorado and California homes, building his company  and reputation upon his product originality and integrity. In time, he found his true passion was found in sculptural lighting; sconces, chandleliers and lanterns of metal and stone.

Will was commissioned by award-winning, Colorado-based Windward Builders produce ironwork for new properties. When Marcia Kirsh Kohler, Windward’s founder discovered Will’s exceptional lighting designs and passion for unique art lighting, she began using them extensively in her award-winning homes and estates. Later, Marcia and Will married, and combined the elegance, high quality materials and unparalleled workmanship, their signature styles with Marcia’s knowledge of design and the luxury home market. Together they launched Grace and Graham Lighting, for Will’s passion for fine art lighting, and named it for their best work, their children, Grace and Graham.
